The Story Behind our Podcast

Hello :), just getting Letters From Home site all set up.  Every time I see our logo, I think of the inspiration behind it.  After Anthony Bourdain passed away I was looking for information on him, as he was my favorite chef.  I stumbled upon a podcast.  “Podcast, what’s a podcast?” I thought.  My housework went by so quickly as I listened.  So I started looking for other podcasts, faith-based ones.  At that time, though I now know there were many i couldn’t find a deep one, one that would encourage me in my faith journey.  In my heart I felt a nudge…maybe I should start a podcast.  Then 30 faces came to my mind—many beautiful stories of people that I know, everyday extraordinary people.  Every time I see their faces, and think of their lives, their faith and their struggle,  I am encouraged. And I thought, if I am so encouraged by their lives, maybe others would be too. So I Googled, ‘How to Start a Podcast’.

And it went from there.  11/21/2018 Letters From Home went live, with our first 3 episodes.  Our daughter Hannah helped me with the logo. I told her that I wanted an image of a bird pulling down the rainbow from heaven with a letter in it’s mouth, sealed with a heart.  II Cor. 3:3 says that each of our lives is like a letter…a piece of heaven…being brought to us through the storms and dark clouds of life…God’s encouragement…of changed and inspiring lives, from heaven’s doorstep to yours.

On that very day the podcast went live…I was on my deck with my husband and sons…and we were enjoying family conversation…and celebrating the launch. My husband and sons said…”Mom…look up at the sky…there is a heart-shaped cloud!”  Incredulous, I looked up, and the only cloud in the sky was a heart…I felt God’s smile upon me…sending me encouragement from above…to continue to share these everyday extraordinary faith stories to bless the world. enjoy!   -meg
